CND Nails for Jeremy Scott Fall/Winter 2017 Collection

The innovative powerhouses of CND Nails and Jeremy Scott are back together. The pioneers of nail artistry at Fashion Week has once again teamed up with pop culture’s “most irreverent designer,” Jeremy Scott, to create a striking look for his Fall/Winter 2017 runway.

After a nearly decade-long hiatus, CND was thrilled to reunite with Scott, who shares a similar penchant for creating show-stopping looks. This season also marked the official kickoff of CND’s partnership with new Creative Ambassador and long-time Jeremy Scott collaborator, Miss Pop. Miss Pop led the charge backstage alongside CND Co-founder & Style Director Jan Arnold.

“It was so great to join forces with Jeremy Scott again,” said Arnold. “The classic red nail has just taken an unexpected turn. Soaked in the LA sun and worn on a medium length almond, we’re making it cool to wear red again…and of course, adding our own twist!” Arnold and Miss Pop set out to create the perfect hue to serve as the new staple for every pop culture “fan girl.”

It took three simple layers: a base of VINYLUX Weekly Polish in Banana Clips, followed by a layer of Electric Orange, topped with a layer of Wildfire. Some models’ nails were further embellished with hand-painted gold stars reminiscent of the world-renowned Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“This look is all about playful showbiz glitz,” said Miss Pop. “Over a fiery red nail, I added graphic gold stars –rising up the nails, boldly standing front and center, and co-starring in corners. It's an element that takes that aspirational glamour of LA and makes it DIY."

Runway Nail Report: CND for Libertine Fall/Winter 2016

For the fourth season, CND Nails partnered with Libertine's Johnson Hartig for some eye-catching nail looks for the Libertine Fall/Winter 2016 during NYFW. To compliment the beaded eye embellishments featured on Libertine's runway looks, the team at CND hand-sculpted 180 eyes in various sizes using RETENTION+™ Liquid & Powder, then painted the eyes with SHELLAC™ Brand 14+ Day Nail Color and VINYLUX™ Weekly Polish in vibrant color combinations of red, green, blue, orange and pink, grounded in black and white accents. The nails were then finished with 60 LED-lit Swarovski crystal pupils, the eyes represented the quiet aloneness and centered spirituality achieved through meditation. An additional 180 pastel matte base nails were decked out with soft, fluffy adornments for a luxe organic finish.

Inspired by Johnson Hartig’s muse of the season, a French sculptor, painter and filmmaker, both clothing and nails featured graphic elements of modernism with sculptural extravagance in vibrant and animated color. Punctuating the surrealistic designs were enameled finishes, pupils that glowed with magical beams of light and fine crystals that lit up the runway. The outcome was a wildly playful fashion collaboration, ultimately rooted in reality.

“This is now our fourth season partnering with Libertine’s Johnson Hartig and our synergies are intuitive and based in an artists’ understanding of design and fashion. Johnson shares his extraordinary vison and we’re right there with him! That’s true and inspired partnership,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “With this collection, we were able to embody CND’s Fall 2016 trend story, which is all about authenticity, hand-crafted artistry and embracing the beauty in raw imperfections.”

“They are a dream team sent from heaven above!” said Libertine designer Johnson Hartig. “This season, they not only created out-of-this-world nails for the female AND male models, but they even sculpted miniature eye pins to accessorize the clothing. They go above and beyond every season, and the show just wouldn’t be the same without them.”

CND Wows with Harlequin Hardware at Diego Binetti

For Diego Binetti's Spring 2012 Collection Presentation, Candice Manacchio, Nail Stylist and Educator for CND delivered a fascinating manicure called "Harlequin Hardware".

The eye-catching manicures stained in CND Colour in Raspberry Parfait #519 and Frosting Cream #511, capped in gold and silver metal for an artisanal finish. Toes were polished in Raspberry Parfait.

Though I might not do the gold or silver caps (though I may just use a matte metallic color) I am absolutely going to try this mani. It's inspiring isn't it.

I've never had the pleasure of trying CND's Shellac Manicure, the latest 14-Day, No-Chip Manicure, but the opportunity came up at the Angelo David Salon. Shellac® nail color goes on like a polish, wears like a gel that gives you two full weeks of nick-free, chip-free, smudge-free manicures.

CND's Fireberry for Christmas

I know this might be a bit predictable but I've decided since it's Christmas, why not wear a beautiful red. While some people are going all artistic with nail designs from ornaments to Santa dancing (I'm guessing), I decided to capture the true Christmas red with CND's Fireberry, a gorgeous creamy opaque red.

I did try out the CND Teal Sparkle over my pinky to see the effect but I preferred just the Fireberry because it's such a beautiful standout red (apologies for the messy handiwork but had a slight hand accident - major nail damage too - difficult to apply nail polish when pain is involved).

Until next time (and a bit of healing) - Merry Christmas

CND Nail's Colors & Effects

CND (Creative Nail Design) has come out with amazing complimentary nail color called Color & Effects, their rich, creme nail colors paired with Effect layer that changes the look of your nail color a little or a lot. CND offers 50 Creme Colors and 15 Effects which come in three groups:

Pearls - fine opalescent pearl
Shimmers - a more dramatic
Sparkle - a super flash mica sparkle suspended in clear nail Colour

CND describes the Colours as the clothes and the Effects as the accessories, the best part is you can mix and match the colors and effects how ever you want which in turn gives you a vast amount of nail colors. One of the effect I tried was Teal Sparkle - a bluish green effect that creates a chic day-to-night manicure
