Romance and Opulence for Fall 2015: OPI Nail Lacquers Venice Collection

Lately we've been putting more effort into strengthening our steady hand skills to create better nail art. Using OPI's Fall 2015 Collection, the Venice Collection, inspired by the famed city known as the Queen of the Adriatic, we wanted to create something bold that's easy to do, and you can't get any more simple than dots. Using three crème nail colors from the collection, we created the eye-catching mani you see below:

We started off with alternate base coats of I Cannoli Wear OPI, and My Gondola or Yours?, with an accent nail in Gelato on My Mind, and created our alternating dots with I Cannoli Wear OPI, and My Gondola or Yours?

The 12-piece OPI Venice Collection, pictured and listed below, boasts shades that are true to color, and have a glossy finish (both crèmes and shimmers). There are an additional three, limited edition shades: two pearls, and one glitter (also listed below) in the collection. All shades come with a matching Gel coat

Amore at the Grand Canal - crème red
O Suzi Mio - crème eggplant
Worth a Pretty Penne - shimmery copper
A Great Opera-tunity - crème melon
Tiramisu for Two - crème coffee cream
Gimme a Lido Kiss - red shimmer
It’s a Piazza Cake - crème persimmon
Be There in a Prosecco - opaque nude crème
I Cannoli Wear OPI - pale, creamy gray
Gelato on My Mind - icy-cool, creme pastel blue
Purple Palazzo Pants - crème lilac
My Gondola or Yours? - crème black
Venice the Party? (Limited Edition) - bold pearl aquamarine
Baroque…But Still Shopping (Limited Edition) - shimmery gold glitter
St. Mark’s the Spot (Limited Edition) - deep pearl navy

The OPI Venice Nail Lacquer Collection is available now for $9.50 each at Ulta, Ulta.com and professional salons.

My Summer Nail Polish Crush

Hello Lovelies, and happy Saturday.

Please, can I gush about my new crush for a minute? I found my love at Ulta, can you imagine. Yes and it's name is Zoya. Sure I knew of Zoya, but it's not sold everywhere and I hadn't yet ventured into the beauty heaven which is Ulta...until recently. Why I hadn't, when there is one not 3 minutes from my job in West Hollywood, is beyond me. Anyhow, transgressions aside... I made my way there one lunch break and There They Were. Be still my heart.
The colours looked amazing in the bottle. I thought to myself: Imagine how they would look ON YOUR NAILS! I left with two bottles. At $9 a bottle, I had to control myself. Of course, not one week later I was back, coupon in hand, and well, let's just say I am so in love. ❤

Colours Used (from l to r):
Jacqueline, Bevin, Caitlin, Carey, Kelly

Needless to say, the collection has grown since...more to come (insert evil grin here).

Gotta run, there's a 50% deal on. Check it out: Zoya Nail Polish Exchange
Happy Weekend, darlings!

Tat’z Nail’z™ Revolutionizes the Nail Industry w/ Photo-Quality Digital Nail Art

Ready for the next big things in nails? We were excited when nail polish strips and stickers launched, intrigued when cuticle tattoos made their debut and now this latest, revolutionary nail product, Tat’z Nail’z™, has us incredibly excited. We all love eye-catching nail art, but let's face us, not all of us are blessed with a steady hand, or even an artistic eye to create amazing nail art designs, but thanks to Tat’z Nail’z Image System, you need not worry about those issues anymore.

Tat'z Nail'z's Image System is taking nail art and nail salons to the next level with its revolutionary image system. With Tat'z Nail'z™, you can print any image, design, or logo on any nail, artificial or natural. In only fifteen minutes, with prep and top coat application, a set of Tat'z Nail'z can be complete. We can already imagine this cutting nail art manicures in half, especially when it comes to backstage beauty during New York Fashion Week, and of course your bi-weekly visit to the nail salon. If you are a salon owner, each system can be purchased for permanent placement or can be purchased with a purchase plan for as low as $259.00 per month with unlimited design potential.

Each Tat'z Nail'z System is installed with pre-programmed with 300 designs and each design has 10 color options for a total of 3,000 pre-installed prints, patterns, and colors. It allows you to print your own digital images on your nails, thanks to its built-in camera, allowing you to capture moments and transfer them into wearable art. It's easy to use the Tat'z Nail'z image system; begin with application of a Tat'z Nail'z base coat and pre-printed lacquer to protect the nail’s surface. Next, with one finger placed inside the machine, a design is chosen and printed, and a top coat of your choice applied.

For those of you who prefer to have their on personal Tat’z Nail’z at home, they do have petite imager for the consumer, which retails for $2,250.00 each, and is a special order item that weighs 15lbs! If your budget isn't quite ready for that, you can simply Create Your Own nails through their website. Choose one of their pre-loaded designs or upload your own photos/designs for $15.00 a set.

Get into the Back-to-School Groove w/ A Class Act Collection From Sinful Colors Pt2

Hello Lovelies,

As promised in my last post, here is Part 2 of the fabulous Back to school Collection from Sinful Colors, A Class Act. The first Sinful Colors "A Class Act" post featured the pinks, this time I am going bleu.

Who wants to be in a classroom when it's so gorgeous out?!? I hope you're all settled in and ready to learn new and exciting things! I will tell you that Maths was never my best subject but you have to admit lines and curves and squares and triangles are pretty cool. For this latest mani, all signs lead to triangles. I really love the gorgeous summer sky blue Why Not, which I used as my main. It just makes you want to ditch school and go have fun in the sun! On the accent nails I did overlapping triangles in my "Terminator" metallic gray, Casablanca and Pink Break (I can't get enough of that scrumptious shade of pink, so I had to throw it in).

Hope school's off to a great start!!!

Study hard, darlings!!
xo

Tips & Tricks: How-to Remove a Gel Manicure at Home by Skyy Hadley

We all love a gel manicure; you don't have to worry about smudges, because it dries instantly when cured, it lasts a very long time and looks ultra glossy, and two weeks later, your gel mani looks as fresh and new as the day you got it. Then comes the removing your gel mani. Since it's a longer process than just using nail polish remover, we can sometimes get impatient, and may try removing the gel the wrong way. A way that is very hurtful to the health of our nails.

Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Nail Salon, says, "It’s important to take your time when removing a gel manicure yourself, as it can be a slow process and you want to treat your nails very delicately and carefully to avoid weakening them." She provides the following tips and a step-by-step tutorial to safely remove your own gel manicure:

  • File – Use an emery board to lightly buff each nail to remove the shiny top coat so you’re left with a powdery finish. Be careful not to over buff so you don’t hit your natural nail underneath the gel.
  • Soak – Next you must soak your nails in 100% acetone polish remover. To do this, take a piece of cotton ball the size of your nail and pour the acetone on it, place it on your nail and cover your nail with a piece of aluminum foil or tape to keep it in place. Do this on every nail and let soak for 15 minutes to relax the gel.
  • Remove – Remove the cotton pieces from your nails and take a wooden cuticle stick to push the gel polish off your nails. If you have trouble, instead of forcing it, soak your nails with a cotton ball for 5 more minutes and try again.
  • Moisturize – After the gel has been removed, wash your hands and apply a cuticle oil to the nail and cuticle. This will rehydrate your nails after using acetone on them to keep them strong and healthy between polishes.

Do not under any circumstances try peeling off your gel mani. By peeling off a gel manicure, you are not only removing the gel, but also the top layers of your nails. This can result in white patches and textural irregularities throughout the nails.

Get Straight As with the New Back-to-School Collection From Sinful Colors

Hello lovelies,

Wanna be the Teacher's Pet? Then this new collection by Sinful Colors will give you a leg...erm I mean, a hand, up on the competition. :D

I received 10 of the shades from the Back To School: A Class Act collection and I couldn't wait to try them. I have been digging pink lately (yes, I am ready to admit it) and I am hopelessly in love with this light shade, Pink Break, from the collection. It has a nice creamy demi-matte finish that reminds me of marshmallows. I paired it with the luscious pop of fuchsia, 24/7 and kept it simple with a couple of dots at the base of the nails in Casablanca, which reminds me of molten metal which, don't laugh, made me think of the Terminator. Topped off with Seche Vite, the ultra feminine look keeps me staring at my nails!!

Memories of Mexico Glitter Mani

Hello lovelies,

My gorgeous redheaded friend, Sasha, loves glitter manis and begged me to do one on myself since I never do. I love my friend, and it's summer so I pulled out the glitter and went for it. Added a little ikat accent detail using orange and purple craft acrylic paint. This was the result; it reminds me of a recent trip to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, with it's mind-blowing sparkling turquoise waters and colorful people.

Shine on, beautiful people! Here's to a lovely weekend.

Nail Polishes used:
  • Bonita - Turq It
  • essence the gel - Play With My Mint
  • Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Overcoat - Blush Over Hue
