NYFW Runway Nail Report: Morgan Taylor at Carmen Marc Valvo and Thakoon

Our last Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer NYFW runway nail report ends with the Fall/Winter 2015 collections of  Carmen Marc Valvo and Thakoon. The nail looks for these two exceptional designer are at opposite ends of the spectrum with Danielle Candido going to a dark, steely mani for Valvo, and Gina Edwards going for pretty pale nails at Thakoon.

Carmen Marc Valvo - The Look: Mid-Century Modern

The mid-century modern mani by Danielle Candido was a custom blend of Matte's A Wrap with a hint of Metalling Around, followed by a thin stripe of Little Black Dress hand painted along the outside cuticle line adding Make It Last top coat for a black high-gloss contrast against the matte gray base.

Thakoon - The Look: Glacier Dreams

Thakoon's collection lead us through a dreamscape. The glacier-esque manicures by Gina Edwards for Morgan Taylor inspired by sleepwalking under the Northern Lights featured opalescent violet beams of light with a sheered blend of Something To Blog About and Make It Last on a soft pink base of Sweet Surrender.

NYFW Runway Mani Report - Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer at Betsey Johnson SS15

Leave it to Betsey Johnson to defy the nude nail polish trend for spring and go for multidimensional shimmer and a bold statement nail for her spring 2015 show during New York Fashion Week.

For Betsey Johnson's S/S 2015 runway show, Danielle Candido, lead manicurist for Morgan Taylor, created a multidimensional blue and silver-hued, crystal- embellished bridal manicure that only Betsey Johnson could envision. The nail look, as seen above on Camille Grammer, is a layer of Oh Snap It's Silver!, an iridescent silver hue, topped with a coat of sheer cream In The Nude to magnify the silver sparkle underneath. Another layer of Oh Snap It's Silver! was then applied before a layer of  Bronzed & Beautiful, a gold metallic shimmer, was lightly sponged on. On top of the four layers of color, Candido then applied loose foil and pearlescent embellishments to complete the fresh take on bridal nails. As an added surprise, vibrant baby blue Varsity Jacket Blues was applied to the underside of the nail tips, adding a faint tint seen from the top and a pop from the belly of the nail. Toes shimmered in Adorned In Diamonds to match the multidimensional nails.

Morgan Taylor S/S 2015 Runway Mani Report - Chris Gelinas, Sally LaPointe, Carmen Marc Valvo, & Monique Lhuillier

Let's hear it for spring 2015 nail trends. Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer continues to rule the runways one nail at a time. This season they're up to almost a dozen shows and Celebrity Manicurist, Gina Edwards and Danielle Candido is wowing everyone with their amazing work this season. Today we highlight their work for the Chris Gelinas, Sally LaPointe, Carmen Marc Valvo, and Monique Lhuillier Spring 2015 Collections Show.

CG Chris Gelinas, Nails by Gina Edwards

Manicures motivated by this rising star's graphic individuality created interest with contrasting texture and understated colors. Matte pastel pink using I'm Charmed and Mattes A Wrap top coat at the top third of the nail finished with a crisp horizontal line before contrasting to classic glossy beige in New School Nude. The abstract makeup similarly juxtaposed white brows with pink lashes to illustrate a break from conformity.

Sally LaPointe, Nails by Danielle Candido

The nails at Sally LaPointe were an understated, youthful, foggy pigment to complement the designer's 'less-is-more' inspiration.The matte, dusty lavender nail was created by custom mixing Morgan Taylor iridescent purple Something To Blog About with gray shimmer Scene Queen finished with Mattes A Wrap top coat.

Carmen Marc Valvo, Nails by Gina Edwards

Celebrating the designer's silver anniversary, Gina Edwards created a sophisticated dual-finish black and silver manicure using Little Black Dress muted by Mattes A Wrap top coat then she edged the cuticle line with Oh Snap, It's Silver, an iridescent silver. A slice of silvery grey also swept through a piece of the hair to a sexy side bun giving an overall look of modern sophistication.

Monique Lhuillier, Nails by Gina Edwards

The manicure at Monique Lhuillier was a triumph — elegant and feminine. A custom mix of Morgan Taylor's coral creme Color Me Bold and light mauve cream Coming up Roses was applied at the very base of the nail. The color burst morphed from saturated to high gloss clear at the tip. Gina Edwards was inspired by the gorgeous thick, clear Lucite heels featured in the show and Lhuillier's own inspiration of the pastels illuminating the sky just before sunrise.

Florescent Summer Nails with Gelish Colors of Paradise Collection

I love getting pampered, especially when it's by a nail brand that I love. I was invited to experience a fun manicure from Gelish Soak-Off Gel Polish with nail expert, Danielle Candido, to celebrate their Fall 2014 collection (will highlight in another post). Since the weather is getting warmer, I decided to go with one of their gorgeous colors from the Spring/Summer 2014, Colors of Paradise Collection (pictured below):

This collection of brights is Gelish's most vibrant collection, with six bold, florescent nail colors that are sure to have your nails stand out this season. The collection features the following colors:

• Rockin' The Reef - bright Coral creme
• Pacific Sunset - bright Pink creme
• Lime All The Time - bright Lime Green creme
• Rub Me The Sarong Way - bright Turquoise creme
• Tahiti Hottie - bright Purple creme
• Mali-Blu Me Away - bright Cobalt Blue creme

I decided to really stand out and go for Lime All The Time, because I find that I usually go straight to pinks and I wanted something very different. I also had the pleasure of learning some new tricks while Danielle Candido was adding an eye-catching accent nail design. I got this lovely Gelish manicure on May 7th

And true to the it's word, my mani, which has received so many compliments, is still going strong as of today (May 24th, 2014) as you can see below. I just have a little nail growth but my gel polish hasn't chipped, cracked, or been destroyed in anyway.

Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer Backstage for Diego Binetti Fall 2014

Diego Binetti paid homage to Americana and street style by mixing Native American blanket coats, nature-inspired prints, oversized studded sunglasses, loose low-slung skinny pants and layer upon layer of texture. Accessorizing the hands, lead nail stylist for Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer, Danielle Candido, created four distinct manicure designs inspired by autumnal leaves and trees.

Lush, leafy textures played with shadows on some girls, while New School Nude nails were sponged around the edge with Espresso Yourself to represent hands harvesting the earth. Similar designs used Man Of The Moment, a rich red sponged with Denim Du Jour's deep blue for a darker look. The other two looks were leaf-inspired looks with a slight ombre. Using rich green Totally A-Tealing, Expresso Yourself and Little Black Dress, the effect of nature turning colors was brought to life on the nails. Using the same dark red color palette, Man Of The Moment, Expresso Yourself and Little Black Dress brought another leafy-ombre nail to the runway.

Morgan Taylor 's White Hot Manicures at Carolina Herrera & Diego Binetti

White seemed to be the key color at many Spring 2014 Shows during New York Fashion Week, not just in clothing and shoes but in beauty as well - specifically nails. Morgan Taylor presented white hot manis at the Carolina Herrera and Diego Binetti for Spring 2014

CAROLINA HERRERA

At Carolina Herrera's show, where elegance reigns, Gina Edwards created a delicate, feminine look for the hands using Heaven Sent, a milky white polish, on soft oval-shaped nails.

DIEGO BINETTI

Patterns and lace played a key role at Diego Binetti by adding charm to hemlines and romanticizing the manicures. Three white nail looks were designed by Danielle Candido with the DIY nail art fan in mind:

1. Exaggerated moon manis using All White Now as the moon and In the Nude as the base accented other nails polished in In The Nude.
2. A crisp white cross-hatch mesh look gave the illusion of texture under gleaming top coat Make It Last.
3. Lace Moon Manicures added drama to fingertips with white lace from moon to tip and In The Nude at the moon.

Red Carpet Manicure's Guide to Patriotic Drag Art Nails

Hey All, Nelly here with a trend I'm excited to try this holiday. The newest and hottest nail polish trend out now is Drag Art and in celebration of The July 4th holiday (and the fact that I will be doing this trend myself), I present Red Carpet Manicure's Guide to Patriotic Drag Art Nails. You may remember me writing a few times about the awesomeness of Red Carpet Manicure, the first at-home LED gel system. Danielle Candido, a Red Carpet Manicure's Nail Technician has presented a step by step guide to achieve the Patriotic drag nails look for the 4th of July.

To begin, you need the colors

The above three colors are: Red Carpet Reddy, White Hot and Drop Dead Gorgeous

1.  Paint the whole nail with Red Carpet Reddy 
2. Before curing the second coat of color, take a striping brush and lay down a stripe of Drop Dead Gorgeous. Do not cure this layer. 
3. Clean the brush and lay down a stripe of White Hot either right next to the first stripe or even down the center of the first stripe. Do not cure this layer. 
4. Clean the brush. 
5. Next, with the thin edge of the flattened striping brush, pull the tip of the brush through all the lines in a pre-determined pattern and cure. 
6. Apply a thin coat of Brilliance Top Coat. Cure and wipe with Purify 

And that is it. You can drag the lines horizontal, vertical or diagonal - whatever your heart desires. Happy July 4th.
